Why house groups?

‘It seems to me, and I do not think I exaggerate, that most Catholics in the future, apart from their Sunday Mass, will need to belong to some form of small community.... Increasingly there will be people who come together to listen to the Word of God in Scripture, to reflect on their own lives and to pray. I often think these small communities are the secret for the future of the Church'

Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor - Keynote address at the national conference of priests 2001 'The State of the Church in England and Wales'.

House Groups
The earliest Christian churches were small simple home groups with believers gathering in homes for the "breaking of bread".  They taught each other, sang hymns and considered themselves to be brothers and sisters in Christ.

This simple pattern of home meetings is the perfect place to foster a greater sense of discipleship and growth in Christ.

House Groups form a key part of the strategy of the North East Hampshire Pastoral area in preparing the ground for a growing awareness of Stewardship.

This page provides links to various house group initiatives that have been undertaken in the Pastoral Area.
